Trace wire

Postby esoxpete » Tue Jul 23, 2013 6:46 am

I have found, as many have that the best Trace wire has to be AFW (American Fishing Wire) it's model is the Surflon Micro Supreme 7x7 camo 12kg. Not cheap at around £8.00 to £10.00 per 5 metres but a trace that can catch several fish and still look as good as new without kinking.
Highly recommended. You can also purchase 100 metered from America for £120.00 off amazon.

I like Behr 7x7 Trace Wire 10metres for about £6 or Talon 1x7 10metres for £3 both on ebay.

Both resist kinks but have to be crimped.

AFW is knottable. Trully knottable. Blood knot. No problem. Trust me there is no better on the market. I've have up to a dozen fish on this expensive wire and the hooks blunt and bend before the wire deteriorates or kinks. However you could be unlucky one time and it kinks after 1 fish but this is rare. Ask big Wayne.

Agree with esoxpete, best I have tried as well. So flexible it can be used direct to flies without impairing the action/presentation. Iron Claw authanic wire runs it a close second.
