Treble hooks

Postby Bronzegreen » Mon Mar 03, 2014 11:08 pm

Have any of you guys used Cox & Rawle treble hooks ?
I have used there sea hooks and know others who use them on the sea without issue.
I have had some samples of the trebles and they seem very good for the money.
Just wanted to know how you get on with them.
Cheers
John

Not used them myself John, I Usually use Owner ST36 with very fine barbs and very sharp points.

To be fair I have some st36 owners and the C&R seem just as sharp but the wire gauge is slightly thicker.
They are a fraction of the price though

I don't think it matters what the hook as long as they are sharp. I have found thickness is not an issue as I have found fine wire or thick all catch as long as you have confidence in them they will be fine . Good luck with your fishing. :drinks:

Glenn
They are not stainless no mate
I've found most stainless hooks are aimed at catch and keep sea fishing
They will never rot out if a fish snaps your line and I would not really
advise the use of stainless for any fresh water use

Not sure what the other guys on here think to using stainless hooks

Asking around in other places about these hooks has led me to think most guys who have tried them would buy them again or have bought them several times.
Based on this I'm looking to bulk buy them to sell on.
So if anyone wants some decent round bend barbed trebles let me know
Once I have some in stock I'll add them to the for sale page if that's ok.

Are they semi-barbed or full?

The C&R are a full barb mike but quite fine compared to some I've looked at
I am looking to get some semi barbed in stock but will be kamasan or similar
These will cost more too !
Obviously barbs can be filed off or squeezed down
I can also get cheaper hooks than the C&R but only a few pence.
Personally I'd only use branded hooks but some guys are on a tight budget and I like to keep everyone happy where I can
